Our Close Protection Training Course

We teach our Close Protection Course through experience gained on the ground over decades of working within the security industry. We’re not a company to just rattle off a PowerPoint for a few days and leave it at that. Rather, we teach you using our real world experience in the industry, demonstrating the realities of working as a Close Protection Operative and the security industry as a whole. Throughout our Close Protection course you will be continually assessed and tested. You can read more about our scenario training and pressure testing here. After your course we will be here to support you as you progress through your career in the security industry if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you have much experience in the security industry?
  • Yes we do. Among our instruction team of three we have 60 years of operational experience working in front-line roles within the security industry, predominantly in Close Protection. Read more about our instructors here>.
  • Do you guarantee a pass on the Close Protection Training?
  • No, we do not guarantee a pass. This is because we are firm believers in the raising of standards within the industry and believe in the quality of our training. We will support our learners where needed to ensure they reach the required standard to enable them to pass the course of their own accord. If you are after a guaranteed pass, then we are not the training provider for you.
  • Is there a physical fitness test?
  • Not as such. We do carry out some fairly physical assessments during the course that are pass or fail.
  • What happens if I fail my Close Protection Training?
  • If you fail your course, you are entitled to a free re-sit of the failed examination(s). We will assist you on where we believe you have fallen short, and from there we will advise and guide you on reaching the required level. Any complete failures are welcome to attempt the course again.
  • Will you place me into work, after my Close Protection Training?
  • While we are an operational company, and do currently employ former students, we cannot guarantee employment with us after your course. We do have links within the industry, and as work opportunities arise through them, we may pass these opportunities onto our graduate database.
  • Is it worth getting my close protection licence?
  • In short, yes. There are a lot of opportunities arising all over the UK for close protection licensed operatives. The licence also allows you to work in other areas of the security industry.
  • What do you mean by “reality based training”?
  • We are in the fortunate position that we have a lot of experience within the security industry. This means that when we teach subjects within that, we teach from a point of experience. We us our experience to enhance your learning, sharing real life situations so that our students can gain a greater understanding of the context of what we are teaching. We also teach the realities of the industry so that those passing the course have an understanding of what they may be expected to do.
  • How long do I have to wait to get my course results back?
  • You don’t. We use electronic testing for our examinations, meaning we get an instant result once you have completed the exam. This means that if you do have an issue with a particular test, we can re-sit you before the end of the course and by the end you will also know if you have passed or failed.
  • I have dyslexia, can I attend the course?
  • Absolutely. We have had many a student train with us with similar concerns who have had no problem. Likewise, there are plenty of extremely good Close Protection Operatives who we have worked with over the years with similar learning difficulties, all who have excelled in their career paths.
  • I have a Physical Disability, can I attend?
  • This is something we would need further information on. Some of the assessments you will need to pass will require some physical activity, as well as things like escorting someone in a controlled manner down a staircase. The role itself can also be physically demanding, and while we firmly believe in giving everyone a fair shot, for some people the course will just not be possible to pass. Call us on 01252 759 183 to discuss any issues you have.

If you have any further queries, or would like to simply chat about the requirements of the course, please call 01252 759 183 or get in touch using our contact page.
